The forecast uses the same spending-pace formula as Wealtie’s Budget Health: spending so far ÷ elapsed days × total days. The daily amount left is your unspent budget ÷ remaining days.
In the example above, $1,280 spent over 16 days is $80 a day. Keep that pace for a 31-day month and you’ll spend $2,480 — $180 over a $2,300 budget. Spend $68 a day for the remaining 15 days to finish on budget.
Questions about making it to payday
Subtract what you have spent from your budget, then divide by the days left after your spending-through date. With a $2,300 budget, $1,280 spent through October 16 and 15 days left, you have $68 a day from October 17 through October 31. Set aside any unpaid bills first.
Divide spending so far by the elapsed days, then multiply by the total days in your budget period. If that forecast exceeds your budget, your current pace would take you over. It is an estimate, not a prediction of individual purchases.
Set the period start to the first day of your pay cycle and the last day to the day before your next payday. Enter the budget and spending for that same period. The calculator supports shorter cycles and periods that cross months.
No. It uses only the spending you enter and assumes that daily average continues. Subtract unpaid bills from the remaining budget before deciding how much is available for discretionary spending. A large bill paid early can also make the pace estimate look higher than your actual future spending.
