A pie chart has never changed anybody’s mind

Groceries is your biggest slice. It was last year too. Every money app on your phone can tell you that, and none of them has ever got you to do anything about it, because “you spend a lot on food” is not information. It is a description.

What you can act on is narrower and much more awkward: this month is a hundred and sixty euros worse than last, most of that happened on two Saturdays, and you can name both of them if somebody shows you the days.

Not what you spend on. What changed, when it changed, and what did it.

Every number comes with the one before it

A total on its own tells you nothing. A total next to last month's tells you whether the thing you tried is working.

Thirteen per cent down on last month is a sentence you can do something with. It means whatever you changed four weeks ago is working, and it is worth keeping. Without the comparison, a thousand and fifty-seven euros is just a number you feel vaguely bad about.

And the daily average is the number you can actually plan with. Thirty-seven seventy-five a day is a figure you can hold in your head at a till. A monthly total is not, which is why nobody has ever changed a decision because of one.

It names the days that did the damage

Most months are not ruined evenly. They are ruined on two or three days, and those days are findable.

Three sizes of unusual

Wealtie marks a day when it goes far enough past your own average to be worth a second look, and sorts it into moderate, high, extreme. Your average, not a national one — a big week for you is a big week.

Tap one and you get the receipts

Every spike opens the actual transactions behind it. That is the difference between knowing August was expensive and remembering that August was expensive because of a birthday and a boiler.

If your income moves around, this is the page you came for

Budgeting advice assumes the same amount lands on the same day every month. For freelancers, contractors, commission and tips, that assumption is the whole problem.

Income StabilityModerate

Average:€ 3,140.00

Wealtie scores how much your income actually moves, out of a hundred, and says it in a word rather than a statistic. A sixty-two is not a failing grade — it is the difference between a month you can plan tightly and a month you should leave room in.

Stable71–100Your income is very consistent
Moderate41–70Your income has moderate variation
Variable0–40Your income varies significantly

What is likely to land

A projection for next period, built from the income you have already set to repeat — with a confidence level on it, so it tells you how much to trust it instead of pretending to be certain.

What you expected against what came

The gap between the two, named. A quarter where you were fifteen per cent short is a quarter you want to know about before the next one starts.

What you actually kept

Income against expenses, the net, and the share of what came in that you still have. The one figure that says whether a good month was actually a good month.

Your month is free. The rest is Pro.

The split is deliberately simple, and the free side is not a demo.

What people ask before they go looking

Your month. Everything you spent, split by category, against the month before it, with the spikes marked and the daily and weekly averages worked out. That is the view most people need most of the time, and it stays free.

Two things. Any period other than the month — a week, a quarter, a year, or two dates you pick yourself — and the whole income side: where your income comes from, how steady it is, what is likely to land next period, and what you actually kept.

That is the case it was built for. Wealtie scores how much your income moves about, out of 100, and calls it stable, moderate or variable in plain words. Then it projects the next period from the income you have set to repeat, and tells you how confident it is rather than pretending to be sure.

Only if you ask. There is a switch between your own money and everything you share, and it starts on your own, so a joint account never quietly changes your personal figures.
